In a world where products, technology and information are now developed, bought, sold, and exchanged across 39 time zones, Smith strongly encourages engineering students to take advantage of study abroad.
All major companies recruit and function internationally, and professionals are expected to bring international knowledge, skill and experience to the job and develop cross-boarder relationships. Employees must understand and interact in multi-cultural settings and demonstrate effective communication skills, self-management ability, achievement, experience and international exposure.
Smith engineering students have the advantage of a long-established, extensive study abroad program that accommodates engineering students who wish to continue their studies and gain important experience living in another country.
Here is a sampling of the locations where Smith students have lived and studied. Note that there are three programs that are particularly appropriate for second semester sophomores: Hamburg, Tel Aviv, and Guadalajara. Inquire at the Study Abroad office for more information.
